Torrey Pines Landscape attended the Friends of Balboa Park Awards Luncheon

Friends of Balboa Park Walter Anderson and Kay Harry

"The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention." - Oscar Wilde

In recognition of significant and long term contributions of service to Balboa Park, outstanding volunteers, like Kay Harry of the San Diego Floral Association, are selected each year to receive an Inspiration Award. Described by a peer as their "very own perpetual motion machine," Kay is the perennial co-chair of the association's many annual events like the Festival of Trees and the Historic Garden Tour. She's involved with more recent projects like the Spring Science Family Day Butterfly Celebration in Zoro Garden and the upcoming remembrance of Kate Sessions birthday celebration held at the Marston House. She's also an important member of the team that produces 'California Garden' the oldest continuously published horticultural magazine west of the Alleghenies.
This luncheon honored volunteer leadership and provided public recognition to both people and projects in Balboa Park. The Inspiration Awards are given to volunteers nominated by their peers in the Balboa Park community. It was delightful to be there and thank Kay, and people like her, who are dedicated to preserving the park's legacy for future generations.
